Built to the exacting specifications of Metallica’s legendary frontman, the ESP James Hetfield Signature Vulture delivers crushing rhythm tone, razor-sharp attack, and road-tested reliability. Handcrafted in Japan by the ESP Custom Shop, this guitar mirrors the instrument Hetfield uses live and in the studio, with a distinctive V-shaped mahogany body featuring hooked wings inspired by the Metallica logo. Its set-neck construction and one-piece mahogany neck provide exceptional sustain and resonance, while the ebony fingerboard offers a fast, smooth playing surface topped with 22 extra-jumbo frets, dot markers, and a striking custom vulture inlay at the 12th fret.

The Vulture comes loaded with Hetfield’s signature EMG JH Het Set active humbuckers, voiced for a perfect balance of passive clarity and active power. The JH-N neck pickup delivers a fuller low end and more attack than the classic EMG 60, while the JH-B bridge pickup offers tight, defined lows with a slightly cleaner character than the EMG 81. Pro-level hardware includes Gotoh locking tuners, a TonePros locking Tune-o-Matic bridge with tailpiece, and ESP locking strap buttons. Finished in Olympic White with black hardware, this guitar is built for aggressive, precise performance and comes in a fitted ESP Vulture hardshell case. Available now at Haggerty’s Music.
