Akai Professional has once again raised the bar for portable sampler workstations with the MPC Live II. Building on the features of its predecessor, this ultra-portable, battery-powered unit adds a built-in stereo speaker system, CV/gate outputs, and a host of user-requested upgrades. Its 7-inch multitouch display pairs seamlessly with 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads and intuitive controls. Running the MPC 2.10 software, the MPC Live II can operate completely standalone, or be integrated into your computer setup. With MIDI Multi capability, it’s perfect as the hub of a MIDI-based studio. The unit comes with 16GB of internal storage, full-size SD card slot, USB-A 3.0 slots, and supports external hard drives. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and integration with Splice and Ableton Live round out its feature set, making it Akai's most powerful portable music production center to date.
The latest 2.10 firmware update brings even more to the table, including 14 new plug-ins—four instruments (Hype, Solina, Odyssey, Mellotron), seven insert effects (Half Speed, Diode Clipper, Stutter, Diffuser Delay, Sample Delay, Limiter, Granulator), and the AIR Vocal Insert Effect Suite (Vocal Tuner, Vocal Harmonizer, Vocal Doubler). It also supports class-compliant audio interfaces, allowing you to record and mix tracks directly on the unit.
