This is a Haggerty's Custom Taylor!
You are viewing a special custom Taylor Guitars. This guitar is built on the chassis of the Grand Auditorium body shape and is the preferred body shape for many players. Its medium size allows it to fit almost every customer and is known to have the projection of a dreadnought body shape. It is strung up with light gauge strings that allow players to fingerpick the guitar or play lead and have the ability to bend the notes a whole step or more. Its applications are endless which makes it a favorite at the shop. Many Taylor customers are familiar with the Big Leaf Maple/Spruce pairing from the 600 series line. This custom takes this pairing to another level of tone and looks. Big Leaf Maple is a Pacific Northwest tonewood and is known for its figure that is just memorizing to view. Big Leaf Maple is a little stiffer than Rosewood or Mahogany which lends to a great performing guitar that can resist feedback and also provide pronounce projection that will allow you to cut through a mix or in a group Jam. Master Luthier, Andy Powers, took this characteristic into the design of the guitar and made the back bracing a little lighter to allow the back to move and still provide a warm tone and bass response. This tonewood was paired with a Torrefied Spruce top. The torrefaction process was used on the spruce top to give it an aged and tone-enhancing boost. The results provide a faster response and increase in volume and projection. Taylor Guitars' finish team also created a new color for the back and sides called Lilac Wine which is a transparent color that allows the beauty of the figured back and sides to still shine. A few other notable features are bone bridge pins that have been dyed gray with Awabhi dots and Gotoh Chrome tuners. The guitar comes equipped with the Expression System 2 and includes TaylorSense as an added bonus.
This guitar was purchased at a dealer-only event. This has been coined as the Taylor Custom Catch Guitar Event. Every year Taylor Guitars showcases a selection of Custom guitars that feature options you cannot get from their standard custom shop options. This provides a truly custom experience. These options include unique tonewoods, inlays, bridge pins, rosette designs, finishes, and custom tuning buttons.
