The Taylor Next Generation 714ce brings a classic tonewood pairing back into the spotlight while showcasing Taylor’s latest design innovations. Inspired by the original concepts that helped shape Bob Taylor’s early instruments, this Grand Auditorium combines a Western Red cedar top with Indian rosewood back and sides for a warm, textured voice with exceptional musicality. Cedar’s touch-sensitive response produces a smooth, mellow character that responds beautifully to lighter playing styles, while rosewood adds depth, shimmering overtones, and powerful low-end balance.

Inside, Taylor’s scalloped V-Class bracing with a relief rout enhances volume, sustain, and harmonic clarity, giving the guitar a rich, blooming response across the entire frequency range. The addition of the Action Control Neck continues Taylor’s legacy of effortless playability, pairing a long-tenon joint for improved resonance with a patented system that allows players to quickly adjust string height to achieve their ideal feel.

Visually, the Next Generation 714ce balances elegance with classic Taylor style, featuring crisp white binding, a green abalone rosette, and the Reflections inlay suite in shimmering abalone across the ebony fingerboard and headstock. Gold hardware and a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard complete the refined look, while Taylor’s Claria pickup system delivers natural amplified tone with simple soundhole-mounted controls for Volume, Mid Contour, and Tone.
